How to measure windows for curtains in Douala and Yaoundé apartments, family houses and new builds.
Measure twice
Width: measure the track or pole, then add fullness — curtains should be at least 1.5 to 2 times the window width so they hang in folds, not a flat sheet. Drop: from the pole to where you want the hem — floor, sill, or a clean hover above the tiles. Send us a photo on WhatsApp if the window is awkward.
Light in Cameroon
West-facing rooms in Douala need more lining than a north-facing office in Yaoundé. Sheers filter; lined or blackout panels let a bedroom sleep in the afternoon. Many houses layer both — a sheer for the day, a heavier curtain after dark.
